from the one-sheet:
"A response to movement across space and the continual iteration of time, 'If Travel is Asked of Me' is in some ways an entirely new work, and in other ways a collection of old songs. Of the five tracks, three are newly recorded versions of songs that appeared previously on last year's full-length release, 'The Pass and Crossings'. The album also features two entirely new tracks, comprised primarily of duo and trio improvisations that have been given shape largely by the band's new member, Ben Babbitt.

The songs on 'The Pass and Crossings' have remained relevant to the band throughout the two years since they were written by founding members Mark Trecka, Elizabeth Remis and departed member Evan Hydzik. But Babbitt's contribution to these songs is significant as well-- the songs slowly evolved with months and months of touring, following bends in roads, aging with the seasons, and changing positions with the touch of new hands.

To mark these significant new works, the three tracks are renamed:
"Palms to Tell" has become "(Laid) Palms to Tell"; "The Making Graceful" finds its new form as "The Making Graceful, Guided Motion"; a re-interpreted version of "Oaky (doting)" has moved to "Oaky (doting, in late summer)". All three, along with two largely expansive, textural, ambient pieces making up the entire side B of the cassette, provide listeners with a bridge to future work.

'If Travel is Asked of Me' is a signpost... perhaps even a "don't say we didn't warn you"."
